Yo! I'm Mors, a game developer from Turkey, born in 1998. I'm the lead designer and gameplay programmer at Distant Illusions, which, let's be real, is really just a two (sometimes three) person team.
I've been making games for over 15 years, primarily using the engine GameMaker, pushing it beyond its limits. I'm also familiar with other engines like Unity, Unreal, and MonoGame, and use languages like C#, C/C++, and JavaScript (eww) on a regular basis. In fact, this very site was built by me from scratch, in three days.
See, it all started when I discovered Game Maker 5 as a kid. It led me to stumble upon an online forum dedicated to Nintendo fangames, where I began posting my (terrible) early creations. To my surprise, people eventually started liking them! Some even went viral, which made me think I could probably make a career out of this. And I did! Heck, I even got a degree!
Since then, I've somehow convinced Opera (the browser people who now own GameMaker) to pay me to make games for their Opera GX gaming browser. One of those games, Operius, became the browser's official offline game, racking up (what I estimate to be) around 20 million players.
I later released an enhanced version of that game, Operius DX, on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Yep, it was with no publishers, handling all the porting and the soul-crushing bureaucracy stuff myself.
